Mother, son hurt in road rage

    CABANATUAN CITY – A 37-year-old mother and her son, 7, were wounded in a suspected case of road rage while locked in heavy traffic along Maharlika Road, Purok Mulawin, Barangay Bitas here Saturday night.

    Police said that victims Marissa Villalon and her son, residents of Barangay Crisanto Sanchez, San Jose City were on their way home on board a Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by a certain Rodolfo Gacheco Jr. when locked in heavy traffic and engaged in a brief altercation with a motorcycle-riding man at around 7:30 p.m. “They were suddenly shot at with the use of short firearm by a lone motorcycle- riding suspect, allegedly due to traffic altercation,” police reported.

    The woman reportedly sustained gunshot wounds in her arm and breast area and the boy on his hand and were rushed to the Good Samaritan Hospital here, police added. Senior Supt. Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police director, said the victims were both declared safe by physicians.

    Cornel said investigators are looking for CCTV footage in the area for possible identification of the suspect.
