Dr. Mark Banzon, Balanga City health officer, however explained that Alexzander Jaime, 12, of Barangay Puerto Rivas Itaas, was already in shock when rushed to the intensive care unit of the Bataan General Hospital (BGH) on January 4, 2018.
“Ang final diagnosis ng ikinamatay ng pasyente ay septic shock with underlying cause of acute gastroenteritis. Merong pagtatae with moderate to severe dehydration. Negative to dengue, walang nakitang dengue sa pasyente,” the city health officer said.
Banzon said Dr. Glory Balatazar, BGH director, reported the final diagnosis. He expected the death certificate to be released on Monday.
Annylin Almoguerra, 34, boneless bangus factory helper, said her eldest son was in high spirits when he went to school at the M. delos Reyes Elementary School as a Grade 6 pupil on January 3, 2018.
Almoguerra is live-in-partner of Zander Jaime, 32, Puerto Rivas Itaas barangay tanod.
Dr. Cezar Chua, rural health physician, said that based on their immunization record, Alexzander was given the first dose of Dengvaxia on April 5, 2016; second dose on October 13, 2016 and the third dose on June 28, 2017.
Mahirap mawalan ng anak,” Almoguerra said.
The mother said her son began complaining of headaches beginning October 2017. Dr. Banzon said they heaved a sigh of relief upon knowing that the victim did not die of dengue although they sympathize with relatives of the child.
He said that they are in continuous search and destroy operations on breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
To ease the concern of others as result of the death of the child, Banzon said they would undertake massive explanation to all those whose children were vaccinated with Dengvaxia.
