The Mont Albo Massage Hut (MAMH) has expanded its business outside Metro Manila and is now open for business at Unit 2, ZMP Building., Villa Corazon Subdivision in Barangay San Agustin here.
Dr. Nol Montalbo, MAMH president and CEO, said he is a fi rm believer and advocate of “hilot” as well as other indigenous therapies which is shared by franchisee and wellness advocate Teresita David– Carlos.
During the branch opening, Montalbo recalled his humble beginnings narrating how he has to pawn his watch for P 1,500 just to get a small massage clinic started back in March 2007.
The venture eventually grew into a professional and profitable spa business with now over 60 branches nationwide. Having the same advocacy, Carlos easily got along with positive energy because of her passion for wellness.
“I ventured into this kind of business because I want to share to everyone, especially to our Cabalens, the many health benefits of traditional massage,” she said.
“I’m a living testimonial. For many years and with my busy schedule, I really find time to get a massage at least once or twice a week to keep me going, remove muscle pain and relieve me from stress,” Carlos said.
Now combining his knowledge of modern medicine and traditional Filipino values, Montalbo promotes true homage to “hilot” and Filipino wellness.
“There are many massage spas like Thai, Balinese, etc. but the Philippine massage is different and distinct because it concentrates in the nodules or “lamig” in the body,” he explained.
“Also, we use warm banana leaves and apply different massage strokes to remove the nodules,” he added.
In general, massage has many health benefits which has been proven and published in health journals, he noted.
Massage can improve blood circulation, relieve spasm or muscle pain.
Hilot is proven to take away muscle pain and nodules, Montalbo pointed out.
To provide high rated costumer service, Mont Albo incorporated different principles in the spa setting. He said training the therapist is a priority.
“All therapists go through months of extensive training and lecture. It is like a school setting where they learn anatomy, physiology, health and sanitation,” he explained.
“Then they need to pass the written examination and on-thejob training before working in the spa,” he added.
The Mont Albo Massage Hut is open daily from 2 pm up to 12 midnight. It can be reached through telephone cellphone number 0945- 5069100 or at www.montalbomassage.com.
