PILAR, Bataan — A modern public market will soon rise here with construction to start after groundbreaking rites were held Tuesday at the “Harbor City” being built in full swing near the coastal areas.
Mayor Carlos Pizarro, Jr. said the public market is a major project of the town with full support from the provincial government under Gov. Albert Garcia and Vice-Gov. Cris Garcia and 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique Garcia III.
After the modern public market, construction of a fishport will follow also in the multi-billion-peso “Harbor City” or Bataan New Container Port City which is an extension of the Freeport Area of Bataan.
FAB under a new law permits the putting-up of the extension of the ecozone to expand in any of the 10 towns and one city in Bataan aside from Mariveles town.
In Pilar, the expansion project will rise in 500 hectares of land adjacent to the Manila Bay.
“The project will create thousands of jobs for Pilar and greatly increase our revenues,” the mayor said.
Pilar is a tourist destination. It is the site of the Dambana ng Kagitingan where annual celebration of Araw ng Kagitingan is held every April 9.
