ANGELES CITY — The 19 ladies of the Mutya Ning Angeles 2023 all look dashing in their locally-made swimwear.

The black-and-white swimwear was personally made by renowned designer Frederick Policarpio.

This is one of the official wardrobes of the MNA that are all made and created by local designers.

Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said aside from celebrating the beauty of Angeleñas and the city’s resiliency, the pageant aims to promote and feature the works and talents of local artists and quality products to further assist them in their livelihood and provide a larger avenue to introduce their craft.

“Our campaigns for Gawang Angeleño and Angeleño Pa are continuous, for we want an avenue for these world-class talents and works,” Lazatin furthered.

The MNA, co-presented by Beautéderm Corporation led by President and Chief Executive Officer Rei Anicoche-Tan, will hold its pre-pageant night on Nov. 18, 2023 at the Angeles University Foundation-Sports and Cultural Center.

Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, one of the supervising heads of the MNA committee, shared that even gowns are made by local courtiers and the shoes are exclusively made by Bong Gonzales.

“We are excited, as well as for Angeleños to see the elegant and classy gowns which will be worn by the ladies in the pageant,” Manuel said.

Meanwhile, Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also the MNA committee head, is inviting Angeleños to support the upcoming prestigious pageant, which will be streamed live via the Angeles City Information Office Facebook page.

“We are inviting Angeleños to watch the pageant, mayroon po tayong live sa official Facebook page ng CIO,” Calaguas said.

According to Policarpio, the swimwear is inspired by Audrey Hepburn, a famous fashion icon.

“This black and white simple yet classic-chic swimsuit is inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s iconic vintage look in halter type with asymmetrical peekaboo to make it look even modern and current,” Policarpio explained.

Policarpio, who has been creating the swimwear for MNA for two consecutive years, said he is privileged to create and work for the pageant, inspiring him to do better.

“I am privileged to have been chosen for two consecutive years as MNA’s swimwear designer and proud to work with a dynamic and very hard working team. It inspires me to do better,” Policarpio said.

“Thank you Mayor Lazatin and to the MNA committee supervising head, Chief IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel for the trust,” Policarpio added.

The MNA swimwear photoshoot is captured by Bruno Tiotuico.
