ANGELES CITY — Harvested beads by the Aeta community from Barangay Sapangbato here will take the spotlight as they will be made as the official accessories of the 20 candidates of the Mutya Ning Angeles 2022.

This is part of the project of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. to help the Aeta community.

In fact, the said beads will soon be available at the One Town, One Product store of the city government.

This was revealed by Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, one of the heads of the MNA 2022 working committee.

Manuel said the harvested beads will be designed by Frederick Policarpio, one of the renowned local artists and designers in the city.

According to Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also supervising the working committee, one of the aims of Mayor Lazatin for the MNA 2022 is not just to celebrate resiliency, beauty, and wit, but also to promote Angeles City, its creativity and what it can offer, in line with its established branding #AngeleñoPa (Angeleño First).

The beads were turned over to Manuel and Calaguas today, Sept. 3, 2022, during the official screening and selection of MNA candidates.

With the two leading heads of the MNA committee during the turn over were Policarpio, Angeles City Tourism Officer-in-Charge Anneleen Antonio-Sugui, Angeles City Economic Development Investment and Promotions Head Irish Bonus-Llego, Rosette Ramos-Biag, Marlon Tuazon, Poklong Guina, and Gerome Esguerra.

The MNA 2022 set on Dec. 8 is one of the lined up activities for the Fiestang Kuliat 2022: Kapagmasusian king Kuliat, Tapang at Tetagan da reng Angeleños.

To recall, Mayor Lazatin also helped the local coffee farmers in Barangay Sapangbato, as locally grown coffee beans are being used in the city-run cafe Kapebaluan and being sold at the OTOP store.
