MABALACAT, Pampanga — Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” is expected to grace the Miss Mabalacat City 2012 beauty pageant set on January 28 at the municipal hall grounds in Xevera Subdivision, Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales said.
Pineda and Morales along with his wife Nina will lead the coronation of the top winners among the 17 candidates.
Pageant Chairman June Magabalot said this year’s contest is “very significant” with the town celebrating its 300th founding anniversary early next month.
The next Miss Mabalacat will have a tough act to follow in current titlist Kimberly B. Wijangco of Barangay San Francisco who was crowned Mutya Ning Kapampangan last December.
The 22-year-old lass born in Los Angeles, California gave Mabalacat its first-ever Miss Pampanga title in the annual contest.
Morales said “beauty contests in our town create wholesome fun and provide venue to discover new talents.”
Under Magbalot’s guidance, the Miss Mabalacat pageant has produced national beauty title lists in Marilen Maristela, Mutya ng Pilipinas and Miss Asia Pacific 1996, and Juliann Savard, Miss Teen Philippines 2006.
