BACOLOR, Pampanga-Former Pampanga congressman Mikey Arroyo was rushed to the St. Luke’s Medical Center for injuries sustained in a head-on vehicular accident that killed a policeman and injured two others along a road on the anti-lahar FVR Megadike in this town at about 3:30 p.m. Monday
The Bacolor police said Mikey, eldest child of former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, was with two others named Edward Montevirgen and Fredrick Macaraig on board a Toyota Hi-Lux pick-up which collided on the opposite lane with a Honda Civic car driven by PO2 Alexander Villamin.
Villamin, assigned to the Regional Public Safety Office in Camp Olivas, was killed while Mikey and his companions sustained injuries.
Mikey and his companions were initially rushed to the Mother Teresa of Calcutta Medical Center in San Fernando, but were later brought to St. Luke’s in Quezon City.
Mikey and his companions were reported to be on their way to Porac town when the accident happened.
The two-lane road where the accident happened was built on the western portion of the U-shaped anti lahar dike as an alternative route between the western and the northern part of Pampanga. It is a narrow road between the Pasig Potrero lahar channel and a unpopulated areas and is about fi ve meters from ground level.
