Mga ‘di kanais-nais na kaganapan sa katatapos na 40th Box-Office Awards

    Ginanap ang 40th Box-Office Entertainment Awards noong Linggo ng gabi, June 21, sa Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium sa 4th floor ng RCBC Plaza. Ang naturang awards ay taunang ipinamamahagi ng Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (GMMSFI)

    Nagsilbing hosts ng awards night sina Bianca Gonzalez at Tirso Cruz III. Nag-perform sa opening bilang Hall of Famer as Most Popular Dance Groups ang SexBomb Dancers, Streetboys, at VIP Dancers.

    Ilan pa sa mga nag-perform ay sina Gary Valenciano at ang You’ve Got Male (Gian Magdangal, Jan Nieto, Harry Santos, at Bryan Termulo), at ang Box-Office Queen na si Sarah Geronimo. Kinanta ni Sarah ang theme song ng box-office hit movie nila ni John Lloyd Cruz na A Very Special Love.

    Napag-alaman naming noong April pa sana ginawa ang awards night ng GMMSFI, pero na-move ito nang na-move dahil sa hindi pagkakatugma ng schedules ng awardees, na karamihan ay may mga engagement abroad.

    Pero kahit naurong na ito ay hindi pa rin nakarating ang ilang malalaking artista na pinarangalan: Dolphy, Vic Sotto, Sharon Cuneta, Martin Nievera, KC Concepcion, Richard Gutierrez, at Arnel Pineda.

    Si Aljur Abrenica ay hindi rin personal na natanggap ang kanyang trophy bilang Most Promising Actor dahil na-late siya ng dating. Kitang-kita namin sa mukha ni Aljur ang panghihinayang na hindi niya personal na natanggap ang award.

    Si Charice Pempengco ang isa sa mga binigyan ng award, along with Arnel Pineda for their international achievements. Marami naman ang nag-abang kung magpi-perform siya dahil balitang-balita ang iba’t ibang international shows and events na nakantahan na ng magaling na singer. Pero ayon sa napagtanungan namin, wala naman daw talagang imbitasyon upang kumanta si Charice, at marami rin daw excuses ang handler nito kung kaya’t hindi naganap ang kanyang pag-awit.

    Nagkaroon naman ng standing ovation nang bigyan ng posthumous award ang namayapang rapper na si Francis Magalona. Umakyat sa stage, na naka-black lahat, ang buong pamilya ni Francis sa pangunguna ng kanyang asawang si Pia Magalona.

    Maganda rin tingnan nang magkatabi-tabi sa upuan ang dalawang loveteams from ABS-CBN and GMA-7 na pinarangalan: sina Kim Chiu at Gerald Anderson ng ABS-CBN at Dingdong Dantes at Marian Rivera ng GMA-7.

    Ilan sa mga naging presenters ay sina Wendy Valdez, German Moreno, Boots Anson Roa, Angelu de Leon, Emilio Garcia, Alessandra de Rossi, Yayo Aguila, Ricardo Cepeda, Roxanne Guinoo, at Tim Yap.
