CLARK FREEPORT – A new restaurant offering superb Filipino and other Asian cuisine in a fine dining atmosphere has just opened at the Meeting Place Promenade of SM City Clark here.

MESA Filipino Moderne restaurant opened with aplomb in a grand festivity last Tuesday where guests not only partook of the concession’s delectable recipes but were also serenaded by ArtiSta.Rita, an internationally renowned singing group who warble classic and original Kapampangan songs.

San Fernando Archbishop Paciano B. Aniceto began with a prayer saying MESA or table in English was also where Jesus Christ partook of the Last Supper offering  bread as His own flesh and wine as His blood which was shed for the ransom of many.

In attendance wheremembers of high society including professionals and businessmen as well as SM City Clark executives led by mall manager Ana Datu who stayed on to watch ArtiSta. Rita perform on a stage set
up for the grand event in front of the restaurant.

Hosting the grand opening were Dalsa M. Hizon and Andy Alviz. Most popular on the Menu and also the restaurant’s specialty was the “Crispchon” or lechon de leche (baby suckling pig) which is served in two ways like a Peking Duck, wrapped in Pandan crepe and with choice of sauces or tossed in chili garlic.

MESA also serves exotic specialties such as diwal, duck and ostrich done in the modern Filipino way like bistek and adobo. It also offers classic Filipino dishes served uniquely by giving a different twist in the preparation like sinigang with guava and pineapple as well as hito flakes on spoon (crispy pulled catfish with mango salad), shrimp cake (delicious shrimp patties skewered with asparagus), chicken binacol (chicken simmered in broth with young coconut and green papaya), shrimp on the rocks (live shrimp cooked in sizzling hot stones), laing two ways (taro leaves, pork, shrimp paste, and coconut crème topped with adobo flakes served hot and crispy), and the popular pinatayong manok, tinapa roll, crispy tawilis on spoon and different kinds of special rice.

MESA was conceptualized and realized by partners former Senator Francis Pangilinan and restaurateur Rikki Dee with Sharon Cuneta and KC Concepcion as investors. MESA Clark is operated by Atty. Ronald Reciňa.
