MABALACAT CITY — Eyeing better services to consumers, the Mabalacat City Water District sent (MCWD) recently a delegate to the 10-day Program on Industrial Waste Water Technologies for Asia (PAWW), a management course held by the Overseas Human Resources and Industrial Development Association (OHIDA) in Osaka, Japan.

MCWD was represented by its board treasurer Diosdado “Deng” Pangilinan who was among the foreign executives of firms whose operations deal with water resources. “OHIDA focuses on industrial wastewater treatment systems in factories, industrial parks, shopping malls, among others, as one of the most important industrial infrastructure fields that Japan can contribute to developing countries,” Pangilinan said.

The course was held in collaboration with the Osaka prefectural government. Pangilinan reported that the course aimed “to help participants to improve industrial wastewater treatment facilities and systems by teaching Japanese experiences and technologies.”

The topics tackled included technologies in “ water recycling , recycled wastewater utilization, energy saving in industri8al wastewater treatment facilities in industri8al parks and material recycling of sludge, he noted.

Pangilinan said he and other participants attended not only lectures but also visited facilities in and around Osaka prefecture to witness the use of such technologies. “The course was also to help participants improve water treatment facilities and systems in their respective factories, enterprise places, shopping malls, industrial
    parks, among others,” he added.

Pangilinan said his participation in the course enabled him to meet officials of some Japanese companies whose resources can be tapped for any need in the local water district. During the 10-day course, the participants submitted a pre-training report about problems and challenges in their respective areas in terms of industrial wastewater treatment and “the business or technology field in which they want to find a business parter in Japan.”

Pangilinan said the program director was Prof. Tatsuhide Hamasaki, associate professor at the Osaka Sangyo University’s Department of Human Life and Environment.
