MABALACAT CITY – “To my kabalens, please take care during this very hot season. Always drink water to rehydrate and protect your skin from overexposure from the sun.”

Mayor Crisostomo Garbo reminds his constituents to take necessary precautions to safeguard their health and well-being at the onset of the dry season worsened by the El Niño phenomenon.

In a statement, Garbo, who sits as the League of Cities of the Philippines’ focal person for health advised Mabalaqueños to “stay hydrated, protect your skin from excessive sun exposure, and be vigilant against the potential risks associated with the hot and dry weather conditions.”

Likewise, in the wake of the Department of Health’s warning about the increasing cases of pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, Garbo stressed the importance of staying informed and taking preventive measures against this highly contagious respiratory disease. The DOH reassured the public that vaccines for pertussis are readily available in the country.

“I have instructed our city health office and rural health units to closely monitor the situation regarding pertussis. As of this writing, there have been no reported cases of pertussis in the city. Nonetheless, the Mabalacat City Government urges the public to remain vigilant and informed about this serious disease,” the mayor said. Mabalacat CIO
