MABALACAT CITY — For the fifth time, the Mabacalat City government on Tuesday was conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The City Government, led by Mayor Crisostomo Garbo (MCG), was among the 380 awardees and among the 29 LGU which are 5-peat achievers of the Seal.

City Administrator Atty. Emmanuel Ignacio said the SGLG recognition is a testament to the “tapat at mahusay na pamamahalang lokal” of MCG “sa pagpapatuloy ng gobyernong may malasakit tungo sa pagbabago at patuloy na pag-unlad”.

Ignacio added the city government has passed the redefined criterion of the SGLG set by the DILG through the management of the local chief executive, which is Mayor Garbo, as implementor of services to his constituents.

“Our city government has evidently passed the progressive assessments given by the DILG on the various aspects of public service and in the delivery of programs to Mabalaqueños,” he furthered.

SGLG has seven areas in assessing LGUs which includes Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Peace and Order, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management, and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

Mabalacat passed all these seven areas, paving the way for the city to acquire the SGLG for the fifth time.

To date, the Mabalacat city government has bagged five SGLGs and two Seals of Good Housekeeping.

The Seal was received by Vice Mayor Geld Aquino along with Chief of Staff Rosan Paquia.

Ignacio said the SGLG award demonstrates the efforts of the local government in Mabalacat City.

“We congratulate Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, the Local Chief Executive, Sangguniang Panlungsod, headed by Vice Mayor Atty. Gerald Aquino, all Department Heads and all officers and employees of the City Hall who make-up an effective and efficient working system in delivering services to the people of Mabalacat, it actually exceeded the expectations of the different sectors/people who once envisioned change and reforms in the government of Mabalacat,” the city adminstrator stressed.

Earlier, Department of the Interior and Local Government Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag said SGLG is a mechanism which aims to gauge the performance of LGUs and thereafter provide incentives to the awardees through monetary grants.

SGLG symbolizes integrity and good performance through continuing governance reforms and sustained local developments.
