Upon the directives of Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, City Administrator Frank Madlangbayan and COVID-19 Response Integrated System (CRIS) Chief Implementer Dr. Jose Antonio Rivera convened all barangay officials and health workers on March 10, 2022, prior to the kick-off implementation of Oplan Barangayan. MABALACAT CITY – “No room for complacency, have yourself inoculated and boosted!”

Thus said Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo as the local government gears to accelerate its COVID-19 Booster Shots Program by cascading its administration down to all its 27 villages starting March 14, 2022.

In consonance with the city’s pandemic best practices, the initiative dubbed “Oplan Barangayan”, is a reaffirmation of Mabalacat City Government’s (MCG) commitment to making COVID-19 booster jabs and primary series of doses available to every Mabalaqueño household. The program also aims to ultimately fill various gaps in the city’s implementation of its vaccination program in the wake of the lingering threat of COVID-19.

During an assembly held on March 10, 2022, Mabalacat City Administrator Frank Madlangbayan and COVID-19 Response Integrated System (CRIS) Chief Implementer Dr. Jose Antonio Rivera underscored the important roles of all barangay officials and health workers under the new program.

As an initial step, the local government tapped all its barangay workers and medical teams for the conduct of a massive house-to-house census, which commenced today, March 11, 2022. The survey aims to keep track of unvaccinated individuals in all barangays with the hopes of convincing them to have themselves protected against COVID-19. This is also in accordance with the directive released by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Furthermore, the data collected from the said census will also be used by the Department of Education (DepEd) as reference for its resumption of face-to-face classes in the city.

For his part, Mayor Garbo assured that other vaccination programs such as the administration of the primary dose and those catering to certain populations and age groups will continue on. The mayor also cited the importance of getting a booster dose as an added layer of protection against the dreaded disease.

The Mabalacat City Government eyes to complete at least the initial round of its booster shots administration in all villages within 10 days.
