LUBAO, Pampanga – Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab disclosed on Monday that she will prioritize the establishment of new municipal hall along the national highway outside the town proper to spur economic growth.
Pineda-Cayabyab said the municipal hall will be along the Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA) and it will be her government’s “top agenda” on her second term.
“It is already in our agenda and plans in coordination with the town council. But we can’t give other details so as not to pre-empt the project,” said the mayor who is running unopposed for the second straight time.
Pineda-Cayabyab said the new hall will bring in more businesses and economic activities benefitting the 150,843 (2010 population report) residents of the first-class municipality.
“And hopefully generate more local taxes,” said the mayor of the town known for its production of sampaguita flowers, rice, sugarcane and fish.
The municipal hall is in Barangay San Nicolas I, which is about two kilometers from JASA and is located in the central portion of the town proper.
Pineda-Cayabyab, daughter of Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda, said her government had prioritized the improvement of businesses in one of the biggest towns in Pampanga in terms of land area.
The town with 44 villages has a total land area of 155.77 square kilometers.
