Thus, Mayor Vilma Caluag on Aug. 5 propounded before the board of directors of
the City College of San Fernando (CCSF) a more inclusive policy in their selection
of scholars whereby even average Fernandino students can avail themselves of
the opportunity to free tertiary education.
“E ku pu bisang itamu king city government ing mamiye tulduk keng pangarap
dang maluawalas a paintungulan (I would not want us in the city government to
put an end to their dream of a bright future),” she noted.
The CCSF board agreed with chief executive’s proposal and vowed to work to be
more inclusive with Fernandino students who want to study in the said college.
Caluag also bared her plans to further improve the CCSF and open new courses
like nursing, even as she expressed the need to review the current budget status
of the school to assure that the funds are being used appropriately.
“Ing planu ku pu para king city college makapamuklat pang miyaliwang kursu
kalupa ning nursing, king panakit ku agyu ta naman gawan ini uling mangagaling la
reng kekatamung faculty at reng mamuntuk king kekatamung kolehiyu,” she said,
citing the academic excellence of the faculty and administrators.
CCSF president Atty. Gloria Victoria-Bañas assured the mayor a review of the city
college’s bylaws will be undertaken.
On Aug. 15, or 10 days after her meeting with the CCSF board, Caluag met with
some 200 applicants who were initially denied admission at the city college. the
institution.
With the college president, the mayor laid out the steps for these applicants’
admission while inviting first time applicants to submit their respective
applications prior to the deadline on the first week of September.
Currently, the CCSF has a total population of 792 for school year 2021-2022 of
which 130 will graduate next week. Enrolment is expected to double this school
year 2022-2023 with incoming freshmen. Application details may be accessed
