GAPAN CITY – The local government is set to provide each household internet access of 5MBPS for only P50 a month to enable students attend the new learning system amid the country’s fight coronavirus disease.

Mayor Emerson Pascual said the city government has already allocated certain fund to install fiber optic up to the outlying villages here.

“Lalatagan ko po ng internet ang lahat ng bahay na gustong magpakabit dito sa lungsod ng Gapan,” the mayor said. He noted that while online schooling becomes imminent, only about 10 percent of households here may have access to internet.

Pascual, along with his sister, 4th District board member Joy Pascual, made the announcement as the Department of Education laid down the so-called blended method of education at this time of Covid-19 pandemic.

The system that will be connected with the city’s command center will be owned by the local government, Pascual said, adding that it will commence this month.

“E yung mga estudyante wala nang dahilan para hindi mag-aral,” the board member noted which the mayor affirmed.

The mayor added that the city has already allocated fund for the installation of airconditioning units in all the 787 classrooms in public schools here but noted that in-school classes may not be safe during the pandemic.

BM Pascual, on the other hand, said she is making the rounds on all public markets in towns and the city within the district to distribute hygiene kits that included alcohol, face masks, vitamins, and soaps to vendors and buyers.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old patient from Barangay San Cristobal, Licab, Nueva Ecija fully recovered from Covid-19 Monday, according to the provincial inter-agency task force.

Named Patient 53, the man who was admitted at Talavera General Hospital on May 19 raised to 46 the total recoveries in the province.
