Manhunt launched for suspect in disc jockey’s shooting

    ANGELES CITY – Police here have launched a manhunt for the suspect in the murder of a businessman and part-time disc jockey in Barangay Sto. Domingo on Sunday.

    City Police Director Sr. Supt. Pierre Bucsit disclosed yesterday that Erzon Punzalan, of Essel Park Subd. in nearby City of San Fernando, was rushed to Angeles University hospital after being shot by an unidentified suspect. He was driving his BMW car along McArhtur Highway in front of the Hi-Das Grocery at about 5:00 a.m. when the suspect shot him.

    Punzalan was comatose for two days before he died at the ICU unit yesterday morning, his relatives said.

    Bucsit said a witness had identified the suspect and the car he was using when he shot the victim four times with a .9mm pistol.

    “We are expecting a breakthrough this week probably by Friday. Our investigators have started to locate the suspect,’ said Bucsit. “We could not yet determine the exact motive.”

    Bucsit said the suspect’s car had not been registered in this city. He added that the suspect “might be a resident of another place outside of the city.”

    Bucsit disclosed Punzalan, owner of the Punzalan Emporium, an appliance store,  suffered gunshot wounds in the head.   Punzalan on his way  home after working as disc jockey in Barangay Balibago when shot.
