IBA, Zambales – After 10 years in hiding, a fugitive was arrested by the Zambales police in a manhunt operation in San Antonio town Monday afternoon.
Zambales police director Col. Romano Velayo Cardiño identified the suspect as Nestor Cabiles y Flores, 54, of Purok 5, Barangay Burgos, San Antonio.
Cabiles was arrested by operatives led by San Antonio police OIC Lt. Mark B. Almario along with the CIDG provincial field unit Zambales.
In his report, Almario said that sometime in April 2011, the San Antonio police responded to a request for assistance against an armed suspect inside a resto bar in the town. The suspect managed to escape as the police approached the place, His gun though was found within the premises, leading the police to file a criminal case.
Cabiles was arrested by virtue of alias warrant of arrest issued by Judge Consuelo Amog Bocarn of RTC Branch 71, Iba, Zambales dated April 11, 2011 for violation of R.A. 8294 docketed under C.C. RTC-6164-I with recommended bail amounting to P80,000.
The suspect now locked up in jail at San Antonio MPS.
“We are ensuring that your Zambales PNP is continuously conducting operations against all forms of criminality,” said Cardiño as he commended his men for the arrest.
