IBA, Zambales — A man wanted for 12 counts of rape in Albay province was arrested by combined elements of the Zambales and Albay police in Sta Cruz town Thursday.
Zambales police director Col. Romano Velayo Cardiño identified the suspect as Pionel Boni y Peña, 28, of Purok 1, Barangay Guinabon, Sta Cruz, and listed as most wanted person at the provincial level.
In his report to Cardiño, acting Sta. Cruz police chief Capt. Richard E. Asis said the joint elements of the town police, provincial intelligence unit, provincial investigation and detective management unit, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company with the Polangui, Albay police and the Albay Provincial Police Office served the alias warrant of arrest against Boni in Sitio Palawan, Barangay Guinabon.
The warrant of arrest was issued by Presiding Judge Ignacio C. Barcillano, Jr. of Regional Trial Court, 5th Judicial Region Branch 13, City of Ligao, Albay dated Jan. 18, 2017 for the crime of Statutory Rape with CC# RTC-7836, RTC-7837.
An alias warrant of arrest against the suspect was also issued by RTC 5th Judicial Region Branch 14, City of Ligao, Albay dated Feb. 8, 2017 for the crime of Statutory Rape (12 counts) with CC# RTC-7884 to RTC- 7893 with no bail recommended.
The suspect was brought to Sta. Cruz MPS for documentation and thereafter turned over to the personnel of Polangui MPS, Albay PPO, PRO5.
“The arrested wanted person will now face prosecution and be made answerable for his crime so that we can give justice to the victim,” said Cardiño.
