CABANATUAN CITY – A man from Gabaldon town is facing a string of criminal charges for allegedly asking P7,000 from a mother in exchange of not spreading the nude photos of her 15-year-old daughter.
The suspect, identified by his Facebook name “John Zegrus” of Macasandal, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija was arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation in an entrapment operation inside a church in this city on Nov. 4.
He was charged with robbery with intimidation of persons and grave coercion in relation to RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) before the city prosecutor’s office here.
Investigation showed the suspected befriended the minor-victim, a resident of this city, through the social media and “upon building emotional closeness with her, gaining her trust, he later on sexually exploited her by asking her and encouraging her to send nude photos which the latter did several times.”
Upon discovery of the “evil deeds,” the victim’s mother allegedly confronted through chat messaging the suspect and asked him to stop communicating with her daughter, the NBI reported.
“Subject demanded to give him P7,000 and threatened to spread the nude photos of the minor-victim if his demand will not be met,” the report signed by Atty. Elizaldo Beltran, agent in charge of NBI Cabanatuan district office, added.
One of the messages, which the mother received on Nov. 1, 2024, as she confiscated the minor-victim’s mobile phone, had the suspect threatening to spread the nude photos. “Ikalat ko na lang ba mga nudes mo sa school, friends and family mo?”
