Man nabbed for alleged cable theft in Clark

CLARK FREEPORT— The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Public Safety Division (PSD) recently nabbed a suspected thief who attempted to steal cable wires from an electrical manhole owned by Clark Electric Distribution Company in this Freeport.

The said man identified as Jobarry Abdula Saddal, 22 years of age, and a resident of Sitio Lahar in Marcos Village, Mabalacat City, Pampanga, allegedly lifted the metal manhole cover to enter the electrical manhole in an attempt to cut and haul cable wires installed by Clark Electric.

According to the incident report submitted by CDC-PSD Investigation Section, Saddal sustained multiple electrical burns due to electrocution after accidentally hitting one of the live wires.

The attempt to steal cable wires led to an explosion which caused Saddal’s injuries. He was placed under the critical care unit of Jose B. Lingad Hospital located in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

Meanwhile, Police Corporal Michael Jude Gonzales from the Mabalacat City Police Station arrived at the scene and assumed investigation over the case. Multiple pieces of evidence were recovered such as one damaged hacksaw, two bags, one folded sack, two burned gloves, one pair of shoes, and one wallet.

Based on CCTV footage from CDC Integrated Command Center (ICC), Saddal has been lurking meters away from the electrical manhole carrying a backpack then disappeared.

In addition, Security Guard Lizelda Dismas and CDC Electrician Tito Santos heard a loud noise followed by unusual smoke emitting from the electrical manhole situated near the Health and Sanitation Division (HSD) Clinic back.

PSD officers SOII Alan Pare and SAI Mark Lou Pojas together with Clark Electric Lineman Mark Paul Padilla then responded to the scene to probe the incident.

After discovering Saddal’s sustained injuries, CDC-HSD Paramedics headed by Emmanuel Cajucom immediately transported Saddal to the said hospital to get proper medical attention.

Due to the said incident, Clark Electric expressed their intention to file appropriate criminal charges against Saddal who is now facing Criminal Case No. 22-6829 handled by the Municipal Trial Court of Clarkfield-Pampanga in Angeles City.

CDC President and CEO Manuel R. Gaerlan warns the general public that such criminal acts will not be tolerated and those who will be caught shall face appropriate charges to maintain peace and order in the Freeport.
