CABANATUAN CITY – A jobless man was arrested red handed with his loot after allegedly victimizing a female patient right in her hospital ward inside the Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (PJGMRMC) here around 11:20 p.m. Monday.

Supt. Ricardo Villanueva, commander of the Nueva Ecija police’s public safety company (PPSC), identified the suspect as Mario Navarro, 39, jobless and resident of Barangay Zulueta this city. Navarro was turned over to the PPSC by security guards Manuel Viloria and Anastacio Buan, both of PJGMRMC, after he was allegedly caught red handed with pouch containing two mobile phones worth P15,000 and P50,000 cash reportedly stolen from a patient at the hospital’s PhilHealth ward.

Investigation showed the 39-year-old woman victim was lying on her bed when she noticed the suspect entered and without a word took her pouch, prompting her to shout for help that caught the attention of other people around who in turn alerted the security officers.

“The suspect panicked and quickly ran but was pursued by a mob who joined the chase until the two security guards arrived and arrested him,” Villanueva said.
