FORMER Special Assistant to the President andsSenatorial bet Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, together with Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino, Governor Susan Yap and other local government officials led the launching of the Malasakit Center at the Tarlac Provincial Hospital, February 6.
The Malasakit Center, a one-stop-shop staff ed by representatives from the Department of Health [DoH], Department of Social Welfare and Development [DSWD], Phil- Health, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office [PCSO], Philippine Gaming Corporation [Pagcor] office of Gov. Yap and the office of the three congressional district of Tarlac province, where patients can avail themselves of speedy medical assistance.
The center was conceived to improve healthcare services in the country.
“The project of President Rodrigo Duterte will just go on and on for the Filipino people. I want to expand and strengthen the Malasakit Center because I know a lot of people need medical services and free medicines,” Go said in his speech.
He added that no requirements were needed for poor patients to enjoy the services of a Malasakit Center.
“As long as you are a Filipino, you are qualified to avail of the program,” he said adding that the Tarlac Malasakit Center is one of the most fine-looking centers in the country.
The Tarlac Malasakit Center is the 23rd to be launched in the country. Governor Susan Yap thanked Go for his support to the province.
“This Malasakit Center will greatly improve Tarlac’s health services. We owe [former] SAP Bong Go for his continued support for the province and to all Tarlaqueños,” Yap said.
The governor likewise made mention of the role of Go in the construction of the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac.
“It was Bong Go who convinced the president to develop the New Clark City and Tarlac’s hosting of the South East Asian Games this coming December,” Yap pointed-out.
Congressmen Charlie Cojuangco, Victor Yap and Noel Villanueva of the first, second and third districts respectively delivered speeches thanking Go for his support for Tarlac.
Before the Malasakit Center launching, Go graced the thanksgiving and recognition of partners and donors of Amor Village in Anao town.
“Amor” is an acronym for Accelerating Minor’s Opportunity for Recovery. It is meant to be a center for Tarlac’s street children when it was conceptualized and built in 2008.
The project was a brainchild of then Tarlac first district Rep. Monica Louise Prieto-Teodoro, who poured a bulk of her congressional funds to build the center. Laid out in Amor Village’s 8,000-square meter compound are the boys’ and girls’ dormitories that can accommodate around 100 children.
The village is now has become a national center as children placed in its care come from all over the country.
Prieto-Teodoro the country’s envoy to the United Nations Children’ Educational Fund [Unicef] came together with husband former Tarlac Rep. and Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro.
