ANGELES CITY – Magalang town went all out for their congressman in earning this year’s “most outstanding solon” award.
The town’s 27 village chiefs led by Association of Barangay Council (ABC) President Rodolfo Gonzales unanimously approved a resolution commending 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin for being one of the 30 outstanding solons in the country as chosen by Congress Magazine.
In the recent regular session of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB), on the other hand, Vice Mayor Norman Lacson and the SB members approved Resolution 11 (2009 series) “congratulating and commending Lazatin for being awarded as one of the country’s most outstanding congressmen for the year 2008.”
Gonzales said “the all-out support and genuine concern of Lazatin to their barangays and their constiutuents made it easier for all the village chiefs to sign it whether they are in our party or not.”
“Congressman Lazatin truly deserves the award given to him as a recognition of his relentless service to his constituents, most especially in Magalang,” part of the ABC resolution said.
The SB Resolution, on the other hand, said Lazatin filed a total of 120 House Bills and 24 resolutions and implemented some P400 million infrastructure projects from July 2007 to December 2008 in the first district. Councilors Gonzales and Ernesto Aguilar initiated the approval of the resolution commending Lazatin, whose mother hails from the town.
The ABC resolution cited that Lazatin had been given the award for his “wholesome rapport with his constituents that everytime he goes to his district he is warmly welcome with jubilation, and when he goes around for a visitation to his accomplished, ongoing, and proposed projects, he is being affectionately escorted and tailed by his people who feel his sincere concern for them.”
Accompanied by his son Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin,” the first-term solon received the award at the Manila Hotel last
February 23.
