MABALACAT, Pampanga – The first lady of this town and the Mabalacat Women’s League (MWL) led a gift-giving ativity benefiting at least 300 indigent families here.
Nina Manipon, wife of Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales, and MWL president Adelaida Santos donated at least P300,000 worth of rice and grocery items to families in the 27 villages last week.
Manipon expressed gratitude to Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda for her all-out support to the MWL’s outreach program aimed at empowering women in this first class municipality.
She disclosed that Pineda gave several sacks of rice and grocery items to ensure the success of the project. Manipon is a member and adviser of the 2,500-strong group formed last year.
Manipon also thanked Santos and the MWL members for organizing projects such as caroling to fund the gift-giving.
Manipon, Santos and the MWL pushed for various programs empowering women. They also organized livelihood programs since last year.
“It’s the time of year when we should give to make people happy. The MWL’s focus though is teaching women become more productive to help the father give quality life to the family,” said Manipon in a statement.
The MWL disclosed that they teach women food production which they can do while at home. Some of the products are siomai, pulvoron and tocino.
