MABALACAT CITY — Vice Mayor Atty. Gerald Aquino tested positive for Covid-19 as announced via Facebook post on Wednesday.
According to his Facebook status update, Aquino said he underwent an RT-PCR test on Tuesday due to body aches and fever. He also added that he did not have any close contact with any patient positive for Covid-19. He is currently isolated at a hospital for treatment.
“Ikinalulungkot ko pong ipaalam sa lahat na ako po ay nagpositibo sa Covid-19. Sa aking pagkakaalam, wala po akong naging contact sa isang positive patient,” he said in his post.
Aquino has suspended his legal assistance, public notaries, and other services in his office and advised his staff to immediately undergo self-quarantine prior to assessment and swab testing.
“Sa mga taong nakasalamuha at nakausap ko ng matagal mula Jan. 4, 2021, kung maaari po sana ay ipagbigay alam lamang ito sa city health office o sa rural health unit upang maisailalim kayo sa contact tracing at iba pang assessment,” Aquino furthered. “Ang inyo pong panalangin ay malaking tulong upang mabilis nating malagpasan ang kapagsubukang ito. Maraming salamat po.”
Per Mabalacat City Health Office recent update as of Jan. 6, this city currently has 13 new cases. Five were household contacts, one had a workplace exposure in a hospital in Angeles City, two had travel history in Metro Manila and northern Luzon, and five with an unknown history of exposure.
The Covid-19 cases are already in isolation and treatment facilities. Contact tracing has been done and scheduled for RT-PCR test and advised to undergo 14-day quarantine. Sanitation of the affected areas are already set by the city’s sanitizing team.
There are a total of 115 active cases with 837 recovered cases, and 24 confirmed deaths in this city thus far.
The LGU continues its preventive measures and programs to fight against Covid-19 and reminds the residents to consult the nearest health center or through teleconsultation for any signs and symptoms of Covid-19.
