indicated in the report of the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO).
This was stated by City Treasurer Marlene Mendiola on Monday as she clarified that as a recently converted city, Mabalacat no longer remits taxes to the provincial government’s coffer which explains why the city reflected only P899,817.72 RPT remittance to the province.
The City of San Fernando and Angeles City were also not reflected in the list of municipalities who remitted their RPT shares to the provincial government, she said.
“Ang siyudad na po ang kumukulekta nang ating real property tax simula po noong nakaraang taon dahil sa pagiging siyudad natin (The city is now collecting its own RPT since last year because of our being a city),” Mendiola clarified.
The RPT collection reported by the Provincial Information Office emanated from walk-in tax payers from the city who went all the way to the Provincial Capitol to pay their taxes, according to Mendiola.
Mendiola added that the actual RPT Fund – Disposition of Proceeds for 2014 reached P30,293,474.06 last
year. The city share is recorded at P21,205,431.86 while the barangay share is P9,088,042.20.
“As a city, Mabalacat does not have to remit anything to the provincial coffer,” she said. With over P30 million in collected taxes, Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales said the city will pursue its programs that will further improve services to the public.
