MABALACAT CITY – Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has allotted P30 million as quick response fund for the purchase of relief goods for his constituents for the duration of the enhanced community quarantine.
According to Garbo, he is targeting to distribute 10,000 to 15,000 food packs for needy Mabalaqueños.
In an interview, he said the city government has started giving food packs to families of persons under monitoring (PUMs) and persons under investigation (PUIs). Others who will receive food packs are indigenous people and indigent families, he said.
He said the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office has been preparing the food packs for the simultaneous distribution to Mabalaqueños.
A food pack contains 6 kilos of rice, canned goods, and others.
According to the mayor, the food pack distribution team and barangay officials and personnel of the City Health Office shall conduct the house-to-house visit. This is done through the “knock-leave-acknowledge” process.
After a member of the household responds to the knock, the team will leave the food pack in front of the door or house.
Garbo appealed to his constituents to stay home while the ECQ is in effect, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
As of press time, Mabalacat is still free of Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Geld Aquino and councilor Timmy Dee, CDRRMO, GSO and CENRO conducted another disinfection drive in Barangays Tabun, Cacutud, San Joaquin, Poblacion, Mamatitang, Dolores, and Atlu bola.
The disinfection drive, the mayor said, will be conducted daily to strengthen efforts to protect Mabalaqueños from the deadly COVID-19.
