MABALACAT CITY – This component city of Pampanga set on Friday the record for the highest vaccination rate in Central Luzon.
A total of 180,770 individuals comprising 87.97 percent of the eligible population for vaccination have been inoculated with their first dose, while 123,061, or 66.52 percent, already had their complete doses of COVID-19 vaccine. The 70 percent target population for herd immunity in Mabalacat is 198,001.
The latest figures were released following the presentation of National Task Force Against Covid19 deputy chief implementer and testing czar Secretary Vince Dizon on the latest nationwide vaccination data via Zoom together with the mayors and governors in the country.
Mayor Crisostomo Garbo expressed his optimism that the city will attain its herd immunity by mid-November. Garbo also said that the national government will provide more vaccines to continue to ramp up the vaccination program in the city.
“This is the result of our collective efforts ng LGU, city council, CRIS program, frontliners, our barangay officials, and constituents in ensuring that we follow the guidelines set by our city government to speed up our vaccination program,” said Garbo.
“And since the national government has learned about the effectiveness and ramping up of our vaccination program, they have pledged to supply us additional vaccines for our city,” he added.
Mabalacat, at one percent daily active rate, is currently on a downward trend in the daily Covid-19 cases since it ramped-up its vaccination drive.
As of Friday, October 22, the city has logged a total of 7,120 confirmed cases with 70 total active cases, 6,833 total recoveries, and 217 deaths.
