Luga installs new brigade commander

    BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – A military colonel from the National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM) assumed as the new commander of the 702nd Infantry Brigade (702IB) based in Barangay Calaanan here on Monday.

    Col. Victor Castro, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class ’82, was installed in ceremonies presided by Brig. Gen. Alan Luga, commander of the 7th Infantry Division which holds jurisdiction over the brigade.

    Castro replaced Col. Henry Sabarre who earlier took an acting capacity from Col. Felecito Virgilio Trinidad, Jr. Castro, who came from the joint civil military task force of NCRCOM prior to his assumption hails from Dagupan City and finished a Masters degree in Public Administration at the Ateneo De Manila University.

    In his remarks, Castro stressed that the mission of the unit especially in the pursuit to totally eradicate the insurgency problem within its area of responsibility in the region is through maintaining and sustaining peace and development.

    Castro posted as Deputy Brigade Commander during the stint of Lt. Gen Emmanuel Bautista and Col. Trinidad as Brigade Commanders of 701 IB where the said brigade chartered significant stride and considerable accomplishments.

    Luga said “the brigade’s successful exploits in furthering our campaign plan – the Internal Security and Security Plan ‘Bayanihan’ must be consistent with our people-centered approach complimented with the schemes and programs towards our peace building advocacy along with all the stakeholders.”
