CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Municipality of Lubao, under the stewardship of Mayor Esmeralda “Esmie” G. Pineda, was cited by the Department of Health at the 8th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health for its “selfless commitment in promoting and protecting the health of the people of Central Luzon, and for outstanding performance in the achievement of Universal Health Care goals.”
Mayor Pineda personally received the awards from Health Undersecretary Eric Tayag and Center for Health Development regional director Corazon Flores
in ceremonies held on Dec. 13 at the Kingsborough International Convention Center here.
The awards are given to local government units “with outstanding performances in their LGU local health scorecard, attesting to their commendable performance in the provision of various health services, and implementation of needed health reforms to be responsive to the need of their constituents and in the implementation of their sustainable local health systems.”
Lubao was the only town in Pampanga and among only 10 municipalities to be awarded in the region, namely Cabiao, Nueva Ecija; Dinalungan and Dingalan, Aurora; Orani, Bataan; San Clemente, Tarlac; Balagtas, Hagonoy, and Baliuag, Bulacan; and Castillejos, Zambales.
Lubao programs for Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition and Reproductive Health also received the Bronze Champion Award.
The prize acknowledges the efforts of the LGUs in achieving “targets and deliverables related to the life-stage programs of Family Health, noteworthy of recognition, replication, and continual improvement.” Punto News Team/PR
