LP still dominates in Central Luzon polls

    CLARK FREEPORT – The administration Liberal Party (LP) still dominated election victories in Central Luzon, as final figures in the May 9 polls indicated that most of winners in the gubernatorial, vice gubernatorial and congressional races in the region hailed from the party.

    Lakas Party, which had dominated the political landscape during the term of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, only had her as its victorious, though unopposed candidate at the congressional level in the 2nd district of Pampanga.

    Data from the Regional Election Monitoring and Assistance Center (Remac) in Camp Olivas in San Fernando in this province showed 10 candidates from LP won in the races for governor, vice governor and congressman in Central Luzon, seven from the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), five from the National Unity Party (NUP), two from local parties, two from Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP), one from Nationalista Party (NP), one from United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), and one from Lakas.

    Two were independent candidates, namely Amor Deloso and Angel Magsaysay, who won the race for governor and vice governor, respectively, of Zambales.

    The only NP candidate was reelected Rep. Rimpy Bondoc of the 4th district of Pampanga, while the only UNA candidate was Megan Antonino who won the congressional race in the fourth district of Nueva Ecija.

    The two LDP candidates who won were Rommel Rico Angara for vice governor of Aurora and Bella Angara Castillo for congresswoman in the same province.

    The victorious LP candidates included Geraldine Roman as congressman in Bataan first district, Cherry Umali as Nueva Ecija governor, GP Padiernos as Nueva Ecija vice governor, Ging Suansing as Nueva Ecija first district congressman, Mikki Violago as Nueva Ecija second district congressman, Jeff Khonghun as Zambales first district congressman, Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado as Bulacan governor, Daniel Fernando as Bulacan vice governor, Jose Antonio Alvarado as Bulacan first district congressman, Linabee Ruth Villarica as Bulacan fourth district congressman.

    From the NPC. the winners are Gerardo Noveras as Aurora governor, Ria Vergara as Nueva Ecija third district congressman, Susan Yap as Tarlac governor, Casada David as Tarlac vice governor, Charlie Cojuangco as Tarlac first district congressman, Noel Villanueva as Tarlac third district congressman, and Aurelio “Dong” Gonzalez as Pampanga third district congressman.

    On the other hand, the victorious NUP bets included Abet Garcia as Bataan governor, Tet Garcia as Bataan vice governor, Joet Garcia as Bataan second district congressman, Apol Pancho as Bulacan second district congressman, and Lorna Silverio as Bulacan third district congressman.

    Those who won under their local political parties included Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda as Pampanga governor and Dennis “Delta” Pineda as vice governor and Jonjon Lazatin as Pampanga first district congressman.
