Limits set on purchase of essential goods in AC

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. has approved Ordinance No. 530, Series of 2020 that limits the purchase of essential goods per consumer during a state of calamity. 

The ordinance applies to all supermarkets, groceries, convenience stores, and similar establishments in the city. 

Based on the ordinance, the limitation goes as follows: two liters of cooking oil, two kilos of sugar, maximum of 25 kilos of rice, six rolls of toilet paper, three rolls of kitchen towels, six pieces of bath soap, one box of multivitamins, and one gallon of disinfectant solutions such as Clorox, Lysol, and Domex, and 10 pieces of surgical masks. 

For rubbing alcohol, allowed purchase per consumer is two bottles if 500 ml, while three bottles are allowed if under 500 ml, and only one bottle for more than 500 ml. 

As for hand sanitizers, only three 100ml bottles are allowed per consumer. 

Meanwhile, the maximum purchase for liquid soaps is two bottles for 500 ml and three bottles if less than 500 ml. 

Based on Section 4 of the ordinance, “during a state of calamity, residents of Angeles City will be given priority to purchase essential goods from supermarkets, groceries, and other similar establishments in Angeles City.” 

The ordinance also requires consumers to present proof of residence including and not limited to: Driver’s License, Voter’s ID, and Barangay ID.
