CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Chief Angelina ‘Angie’ Blanco reiterated the importance of DRRM in every city and municipality, especially the appropriate usage of their budget for proper response to disasters and calamities.
She also bared during the Multi-Hazard Disaster Summit 2019 the centralization of public announcements for class suspensions and utilize the priority programs for disaster in the grassroots level.
The PDRRMO Chief also explained that the Local DRRM fund should be allotted for disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation.
This is in accordance of Republic Act (RA) 10121 or also known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.
According to her, such administrative directives, organizational and operational skills, implementing strategies, policies and improved coping capacities will reduce the adverse impacts of hazards and possibility of disaster, which is also stated in RA 10121.
“Ang kahandaan ay susi sa kaligtasan,” she furthered.
Also in the event were Provincial Board Members, Local and Barangay Chief Executives, Municipal and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officers, Municipal and City Engineers, Municipal and City Social Welfare Development Officers, Department of Science and Technology Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (DOST PHIVOLCS), PAG-ASA Pampanga River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (PRFFWC), Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Mines and Geoscience Bureau (Region 3), Deparment of Health (DOH), Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), Capitol Department Heads, Sangguniang Kabataan Presidents, and Stakeholders-Sectors.
