BALANGA CITY — The Bataan sangguniang panlalawigan on Monday announced that Gov. Jose Enrique Garcia III has approved a resolution it passed encouraging digital payments in the province’s 11 towns and one city.

Resolution No. 434 encourages the adoption of and transition to digital/online platforms for government disbursements and collection in the province.

SP chair Vice Gov. Ma. Cristina Garcia said the governor made an urgent request for the passage of the resolution.

The resolution encourages all local government units to adopt digital platforms for government disbursements and payments and to facilitate the adoption of digital/online payments for merchants within their respective jurisdictions.

Garcia explained that the use of digital means for government collections and disbursements is in line with the declared policy under RA 11032 or the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.”

This, the vice governor said, establishes effective practices, promotes efficient delivery of government services, expedites transactions and prevents graft and corruption.

The resolution also took note of the coronavirus pandemic that calls for the need to utilize digital payment services that “enable a convenient, efficient, transparent and safe mode of transacting business and delivering government services.”

Lawyer Mark Lorenz Quezon, SP secretary, reported that all board members in the three districts of Bataan were present during the session presided by the vice governor when the resolution was discussed and passed.
