DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – The municipal government on Saturday gave 2,042 farmers a bag of commercial fertilizer each and vegetable seeds as part of the town’s recovery program for farmers affected by typhoon Lando.

Mayor Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia said the municipal government approved and released P2.9 million – P2.4 million for the purchase of urea fertilizers and about P0.5 million for various vegetable seeds – to benefit farmers in 33 to 39 barangays.

“Bagama’t huli na at matagal nang nangyari ang Lando, gusto pa rin naming matulungan at makinabang ang mga magsasaka,” she said.

Lando hit the province on October 19, 2015. Affected were 2,816 hectares of ricelands in Dinalupihan alone.

“Malaking tulong ito sa tulad naming mahirap na magsasaka. Libre ito,” Danilo Guevarra of Barangay San Ramon said.

The mayor encouraged farmers to form an association in every barangay and federated into a municipal organization to be able to seek assistance from national agencies. “Mahirap na isa-isa ang paglapit sa national agencies,” Garcia said.

“Ang vision natin by 2020 ay maging model agropolis ang Dinalupihan sa Central Luzon o isang bayang namumuhay sa agrikultura na maganda ang buhay,” she said.
