Level Up Lubao clinches Delta Cup 2024 Championship

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The exhilarating conclusion of the first-ever Delta Cup unfolded in a thrilling showdown as Level Up Lubao emerged victorious, claiming the championship title in a resounding victory over Apalit I Love It. The championship series culminated in a spectacular clash held at the Bren Z Guiao Convention Center on Sunday, March 24.

Level Up Lubao dominated Apalit with a commanding 70-56 victory. Spearheaded by standout performances from CJ Delfino and Francious Dela Cruz, Lubao showcased their prowess both offensively and defensively, particularly shining in the decisive fourth quarter.

CJ Delfino’s stellar performance secured victory for Lubao, tallying an impressive stats of 23 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 5 steals. Delfino’s exceptional contributions earned him the coveted title of Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP), along with the prestigious Season MVP accolade.

Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, the man behind the Delta Cup, emphasized the tournament’s significance in nurturing young talent and fostering sportsmanship among Kapampanga youth.

The competition sponsored by the provincial government also aims to steer aspiring athletes away from detrimental influences while providing a platform for their development and recognition.

“Definietely ang mga homegrown po natin tutulungan po natin ma develop at makilala sa higher league yun po ang gagawin po nating support sa province. And sa mga other province po, sana nakita niyo kung gaano kaganda ang inter-town, sana po bigyan niyo po ng pagkakataon ang mga nasasakupan ninyo para gayahin po ito, said Gov Pineda.

Mayor Esmeralda Pineda extended heartfelt gratitude to the unwavering support of the local community.

“Very grateful ako sa suporta talaga ng mga Lubeño. Yun talaga ang nagserve as inspiration ng mga bata. Itong Delta Cup na to, ito ay naging way para makilala, ang mga hindi pa kilala hindi lang sa Lubao. Lahat ng bayan, nakita natin lahat ang galing ng mga Kapampangan,” said Mayor Pineda

The Delta Cup not only showcased Lubao’s sporting prowess but also highlighted the exceptional talent prevalent throughout the Kapampangan region. Alongside Level Up Lubao’s triumphant victory, Apalit I Love It secured the second spot, followed by Abe-Abe Tamu King Panyulung Floridablanca in third place, and Minalin All Stars in fourth place.

In addition to the MVP award, the Delta Cup 2024 Mythical 5 team was announced, featuring standout players from various competing teams which include CJ Delfino (Level Up Lubao), Isaac Danting (Apalit I Love It), Andrei Dungo (I Love San Simon), Kidd Estalilla (Angeles City Red Warriors), and Francious Dela Cruz (Level Up Lubao). All winners were awarded with plaques, trophies, and cash prizes.
