BALANGA CITY – A 42-year old victim of rat urine on Sunday described his ordeal in battling leptospirosis, saying that what he felt could not be handled by a child.

He was confined since last Saturday at Room 348 of the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City.

Doctors at the BGH said there were other patients of leptospirosis, although few, in Bataan from August to September but Enriquez was the confirmed lone victim this October.

“Umiwas sa baha, magsuot lagi ng bota,” Enriquez advised others so as not to experience his ordea.

He said he got the disease when, afflicted with alipunga, he waded through a flooded portion of Barangay Bayan in Mariveles less than two weeks ago. Four days after, he had fever.

A chikungunya outbreak was declared in Mariveles last month after the number of victims of the dengue-causing mosquitoes rose to more than 100.

Enriquez said he underwent dialysis for two times and he was hopeful that he will be discharged from the hospital this Monday.
