ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has announced on November 10, that the city government is set to deliver food packs worth P2 million to Polangui town in Albay, Bicol to help the 4,000 families who were greatly affected by typhoon ‘Rolly.’

Among the areas which will be receiving relief packs from the city government are the three barangays severely affected by the recent typhoon – Barangays Alumon, Balangibang, and Kinale according to Mayor Lazatin.

Mayor Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas shared that upon the instruction of Mayor Lazatin, “the city government will be personally delivering the said assistance on November 20, by members of the Angeles City Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Office (ACDRRMO) led by Rudy Simeon, City Engineer’s Office (CEO) headed by Engr. Donato Dizon, and City Social and Welfare Development Office (CSWDO) led by Edna Duaso.”

“Maria Cielo Sarion, our very own CSWDO 2 Officer who is a native of Albay, will lead this relief operation mission of the Angeles City government,” Calaguas said.

Sarion expressed her gratitude to the city government for taking the initiative to help her kababayans in Albay.

“Taos puso po akong nagpapasalamat kay Mayor Lazatin para sa walang sawang pagtulong niya sa mga Bikolanos,” Sarion said.

Lazatin said the city is always willing and ready to extend its helping hand to fellowmen in dire need, which is our duty as a Filipino citizen.

“It is our duty to help other Filipinos, especially those who were victims of unexpected natural calamities, such as the citizens of Albay who were recently ravaged by typhoon Rolly,” Lazatin said.

He also urged his constituents that if they have “pre-loved” items, or are interested to donate food items such as canned goods and rice, monetary kind, or other useful items they can spare for the victims of the typhoon, drop it at the CSWDO.

“Patuloy nating patunayan na nanaig pa rin ang espiritu ng bayanihan sa ating bayan. Maliit o malaki man ang ating ibigay, tiyak na makakatulong pa rin ito ng malaki sa ating kapwa, ” Lazatin furthered.

This is not the first time that the Lazatin administration has sent help to disaster-stricken areas in the country.

Mayor Lazatin took the initiative last December 2019, to hand-over relief goods and a cash donation of P500,000 each to 10 municipalities in North Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Davao Del Sur, which were severely affected by the strong successive earthquakes in October.

In addition, last January and February, the city government sent 3 truckloads of relief goods and 1 truck containing hygiene kits, and 12 passenger vehicles carrying a medical team, social workers, and volunteers to the Municipality of Tuy and Balayan, and the City of Lipa in Batangas, and City of Legazpi in Albay, to the families who were greatly affected by the recent eruption of Taal Volcano and Typhoon Tisoy.
