ANGELES CITY — The implementation of waste segregation at source is now in full swing in Barangay Capaya starting on February 13, 2025.
“This initiative reflects our commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management practices,” Mayor Lazatin said.
Furthermore, the city government’s “No segregation, no collection” policy in Barangays Tabun, and Mining will follow suit while the remaining 29 barangays will be scheduled.
Mayor Lazatin aims to instill the importance of waste segregation in reducing the waste being dumped in sanitary landfills to Angeleños.
“Nais po natin na maturuan ang ating mga kababayan ang kahalagaan ng waste segregation at source dahil para rin naman ito sa kanila,” Lazatin added.
Meanwhile, Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas furthered that by segregating waste at its origin, this will not only reduce the burden on landfills but also promote recycling and proper disposal of different types of waste.
City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Jenifer Castro explained that there is a full deployment of CENRO staff to check on the segregation in all the barangays.
According to Castro, there will be no segregation, no collection policy, as ordered by Mayor Lazatin.
“Ang bilin po ni Mayor Lazatin, siguraduhin na bawat barangay ay susunod at sumusunod sa ating waste segregation at source,” Castro said.
Castro highlighted the benefits of waste segregation stating, “Waste segregation promotes recycling and resource recovery, ensures safety on public health, minimizes the chance of hazardous substances polluting the environment, and encourages sustainable practices.”
