ANGELES CITY — Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has set the booster shots for all public school teachers in the 53 schools on August 23, 2022 via the Ronda Bakuna Bus to be deployed at Angeles Elementary School, from 9 AM to 4 PM.
With the opening of classes and the resumption of face-to-face learning, Mayor Lazatin wants to ensure the safety of teachers and learners.
“Ngayon pong magbabalik na ang face-to-face classes, we need to put a priority to the safety of everyone in the classroom setting,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin furthered that this is also in respect to the policy of the Department of Education to require teaching personnel involved in the face-to-face classes to be vaccinated.
The Ronda Bakuna Bus will have on board doctors, nurses, medical technologists and health workers and support staff from City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra; Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Rodolfo Simeon; and Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles.
According to Dr. Guevarra, it is recommended to take the booster shots in order to best stay protected from the virus.
“Open po [ito] for first and second shots ng booster. For those who did not yet receive their first booster shot, we will accommodate them too,” Dr. Guevarra shared.
Ma. Irelyn Tamayo, DepEd — Angeles City Schools Division Superintendent, sent her appreciation to the efforts of the city government for looking out for the health, safety, and welfare of the teachers and students; and to bring vaccine closer to them.
To recall, Angeles City is the only Local Government Unit which launched a blended vaccination scheme — the Ronda Bakuna sa Barangay and the Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay.
This is being supervised by the Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program.
This strategy was commended by the World Health Organization and the Department of Health.
To date, 403,187 Angeleños already received their first dose; 379,275 are fully vaccinated; while 87,798 got their first booster shots; and 6,232 for second booster shots.
