Lazatin meets DOTr on North-South Commuter Railway concerns

ANGELES CITY – Department of Transportation (DOTr) personnel met with Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. on the issuproject planning and design of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR-Ex) Clark Extension Project.

Mayor Lazatin discussed with Monica Francisco and Rae Palma of DOTr the general social considerations in the project’s planning and design.

He then asked Executive Asst. IV Reina Manuel to coordinate with the department heads for the formulation of Social Development Framework or Program (SDF/P) for the project.

Some of the issues raised were Public Access, Hydrogeology, Basic Infrastructure and Services, Public Order, Cultural Heritage, Gender and Development, Children’s Rights, Indigenous People, Waste Management, Health and Safety, Employment, and Environmental complaints.

Moreover, Manuel requested the DOTr to involve the potential affected barangays. The Department Heads and representatives also addressed their concerns and suggestions for the Social Development Framework or Program (SDF/P).

Meanwhile, the railway will be partially operational by 2022. It can accommodate 342,000 passengers daily.
