CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – A vigorous house-to-house campaigning, a hefty campaign contribution as well as an all-out support from the Lazatin-Panlilio clan has kept vice mayoralty candidate Jimmy Lazatin in the lead in the coming May 13 elections.
A survey conducted by a Manila-based firm showed Lazatin as the choice of 48 percent of the respondents with his two rivals, Board Member Rolly Macalino and Councilor Renato Agustin polling 23 and 17 percent respectively.
Now on his third term as councilor, Lazatin also enjoys an unblemished record in public service. Being a true Fernandino, Lazatin has an edge over his rivals who are from other Pampanga municipalities.
Over the weekend, people from Barangay Del Carmen listened to Lazatin where he voiced his advocacy in education and children’s welfare. Lazatin pushed for the passage of legislations establishing integrated schools in the city and the creation of the City College.
Lazatin was also instrumental in the passage of the Children‘s Welfare Code, Environment Code and the Investment Incentive Code of the city.
Considered his bailiwick since it was where he grew up, Barangay Del Carmen folks went out in droves to listen to Lazatin as well three independent candidates for councilor who were with him – Ivan Alcarioto, Pol Quiwa and Ernesto Dumas.
“Memag-lual la reng tau,” said an observer.
Binhi spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo who was a former Malacañang Palace spokesperson, also attended the caucus held at the basketball court.
Among those who endorsed Lazatin were noted Fernandino Engr. Marni Castro, former barangay captain Arsen Feliciano, number one kagawad Jigi Bacani and incumbent Barangay Captain Orling Pangilinan who introduced Lazatin to the crowd.
Yesterday, Lazatin visited Barangay San Agustin. As of press time, Lazatin was still busy campaigning house-to-house in the said barangay.
