12 OCTOBER 2022, CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga— In recognition of its contributions to Pampanga’s local tourism industry, Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga (Microtel) of the LausGroup of Companies (LGC) received three awards from the City Government of San Fernando, Pampanga in an awarding ceremony held Friday, September 30.

Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga was lauded as a COVID-19 Tourism Hero by the city local government unit (LGU) for serving as an isolation and quarantine facility at the height of the pandemic—a crucial component for the City of San Fernando’s COVID-19 response.

It was also recognized as a Child-Safe Tourism Establishment for its compliance to the guidelines set by city ordinance No. 2020-024 known as the “Child Safe Tourism Ordinance of the City of San Fernando Pampanga” which strengthens the protection of children against sexual exploitation in travel and tourism.

The hotel also became a Department of Tourism (DOT) Accredited Establishment for its progressive levels of operating quality and adherence to internationally-recognized standards for the operation and maintenance of tourism facilities and services.

“We are grateful to receive these recognitions from the city government of San Fernando, Pampanga. Despite the tourism industry being among the hardest hit during the pandemic— the conversion of our hotel as a quarantine facility proved to be beneficial as it allowed us to help our local government in accommodating Overseas Filipino Workers and Returning Filipinos and at the same time it helped us survive and continue to provide jobs to our people,” Donna Ravina, General Manager of Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga said.

Mr. Jose Mari del Rosario, President of PHINMA Hospitality and owner of the Philippine master franchise of Microtel by Wyndham, also lauded LGC and Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga’s commitment to customer service.

“It is truly an honor to receive these awards for Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga. We are grateful for the LausGroup for putting their trust in the Microtel brand and making it one of Pampanga’s go-to tourism facilities, and we look forward to more of what this partnership can achieve together,” del Rosario said.

Strategically-located in the “Christmas Capital of the Philippines,” these recognitions come as Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga prepares for the influx of both local and international tourists flocking to Pampanga in time for the holiday season—fueled by the “revenge travel” phenomenon after not being allowed to travel for over 2 years.

“We at Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga are excited to be welcoming tourists as the holiday season is fast approaching. Whether it’s to reunite with family or spend a quick getaway in Pampanga—our fully-vaccinated teams and well-sanitized rooms and amenities are ready to welcome guests safely, and make Microtel by Wyndham Pampanga their home away from home,” Ravina added.
