GAPAN CITY – A 20-year-old lass from the country’s onion basket bested 12 other candidates to be crowned ambassador of a Nueva Ecija-made skin care product on Friday.

Ryhjean Riguer (vital statistics: 36-24-36) also bagged several other awards, including best in swimsuit, during the search for Ms. Akemi Ambassador held at Robinsons Gapan.

Riguer believes love is the most powerful energy to move mankind. All the 12 other candidates who vied for the title came from Nueva Ecija, mostly from this city and some from the towns of Cabiao, San Antonio, and Talavera.

Novelyn Natividad, brand owner who hails from this city, said she wanted a Nueva Ecijana represent Akemi to the world since it is “Japan-formulated but Gapan-made.”

“Right now, bottle pa lang ‘yung nakikita nyo pero ngayon magkakaroon na siya ng mukha,” Natividad said of having a brand ambassador.

“Tanong na naman nila e bakit hindi sa Manila? Bakit dito sa Nueva Ecija? The reason why is I am from here and I wanted na ang maging ambassador natin for the product is also from Nueva Ecija,” she said adding that the province is rich in beautiful ladies. “Pride natin ‘yun eh. Na maraming magaganda dito sa Nueva Ecija.”

As a Nueva Ecijana herself, Natividad further takes pride in introducing the first “scented product that also gives you a bright looking skin” in Akemi Instabright.

The all-in-one Akemi which is organic, she said, features moisturizing, whitening, sun protection, and smoother skin.

Riguer expressed gratitude for an opportunity to help promote a product that emanates from her own province.
