PALAYAN CITY – High ranking officials of state-run Land Bank of the Philippines introduced to local farmers and residents its new savings and lending facilities via caravan here on April 18.

Landbank president and CEO Lynette Ortiz said they brought the “Bilis Ipon: Digital Financial Inclusion Caravan” in the country’s rice granary in a bid to empower farmers through increased accessibility to financial solutions.

The program, Ortiz said, was part pf the Landbank’s commitment to serve the growth requirements of the agriculture sector.

“You can open a bank account using your smart phone hindi na po tayo pupunta all the way to the branch, maghihintay sa line, queue just to be able to open an account,” she explained.

Farmers were briefed on the convenience in practicing “good saving habits through Landbank’s innovative digital solutions.”

“At the same time, we continue to extend our accessible credit offerings to ramp-up the growth of their production and income,” said Ortiz.

The Bilis Ipon Caravan showcased the new Landbank Agrisenso Lending Program, designed to provide affordable credit assistance and support services to empower local farmers.

The program has an initial P10-billion fund which aims to encourage small farmers and fishers to engage in value-chain financing and farm clustering, for increased production of rice, corn, and high-value crops.

Participants were encouraged to open their very own Landbank Piso Plus basic deposit account on the spot using a smartphone, with no initial deposit and maintaining balance.

Officials from the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, on the other hand, explained the surety program for crops.

The latest leg of the Bilis Ipon Caravan in Nueva Ecija highlighted the bank’s dedication to expanding financial inclusion and driving inclusive and sustainable development across the nation.

Across Nueva Ecija, Landbank has a total of 10 branches, one agri-hub, two lending centers, 67 ATMs, 95 partner 7-Eleven ATMs, and 56 Landbank Kasama partners with 75 point-of-sale (POS) terminals, to provide convenient and secure banking services to Novo Ecijanons.
