LAUR, Nueva Ecija – The family of an ob-gyne who was brutally killed and dumped on an irrigation canal in Science City of Munoz called for swift justice on Tuesday.

Rodrigo Tolentino, elder brother of Dr. Carolina Talens, 53, of Mabini this municipality said she was almost unidentifiable if not for a mole on her face when found floating in a canal in Barangay San Felipe, Science City of Munoz at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Akala ko sa pelikula lang nangyayari ang ganitong karahasan, nangyayari pala sa totoong buhay at sa kapatid ko pa,” Tolentino said, crying with her two college student kids, in front of the victim’s sealed casket.

Talens’ body reportedly bore signs of severe beating and stab wounds, and wearing only inside garments, when found by a farmer. The victim was also a resident physician of the provincial government-run Bongabon District Hospital, Tolentino said.

PO3 Gabriel Santiago, city police prober, said the victim was last seen alive at about 8 a.m. Friday at MV Gallego Hospital driving her SUV (ZJD- 124). “The victim was actually a subject of flash alarm on June 7, 2014 by th Cabanatuan City police station after she failed to return home,” Santiago said.

Tolentino said the victim, who has separated from her husband, has no known enemy. Besides practicing medicine, Talens reportedly has interests in lending business. He lamented her friends and relatives could not even see her face because they have to have her casket sealed.

“Napakasakit ng ganitong pangyayari,” he said. The police, he said, may be doing its best but the efforts are somehow short to immediately deliver justice.
