A source from the BI Fugitive Search Unit arrested the Korean suspect identified as Hoon Yoo,alias Edward Yoo Hoon, 33, in a rented house at the posh Carmenville Subdivision here last Tuesday.
Police investigators have been tracking Hoon after he was identified as the middleman that negotiated for the ransom for Joo who was forcibly taken by policemen from his residence at a subdivision here on Oct. 18 last year.
Hoon, who spoke fluent English, was reported to have admitted to investigators that he acted as translator for Mrs. Joo and that he personally saw some P5 million ransom turned over to the cops.
BI records indicated that Hoon has been overstaying in the country and had been in the immigration lookout bulletin of the Department of Justice.
Hoon will be detained at the BI Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig City.
The suspects in Jee’s kidnap- murder case now pending before Branch 58 of the Regional Trial Court here included former anti-narcotics operative Supt. Rafael Dumlao III, , SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, Senior Police Officer (SPO) 4 Roy Villegas, former NBI worker Jerry Omlang, and Gream funeral home owner Gerardo Santiago.
Jee was reportedly brought to Camp Crame by his abductors where he was killed. His body was later cremated at the Gream funeral parlor in Caloocan City.
