TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Nine persons, including a Korean businessman, were arrested for alleged violation of social distancing rule in a checkpoint in Barangay Bagong Silang here at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito, identified those arrested as Joseph Kim, 55, presently residing in Santiago City; sisters Rosemarie Yap, 53, and Felt, 55, both of Sto. Tomas, Pampanga; Christopher Francisco, 43, of Bacolor, Pampanga; Butch Dayrit, 55, of Mabalacat City; King George Apiado, 42, of Angeles City; brothers Wilfredo Agdeppa, 37, and Oliver, 43, both of Nueva Ecija; and Aladdin Abian, 44, of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
Desamito said the suspects were on board a white Toyota Grandia van (conduction sticker YV 8695) when flagged down at the Bagong Silang control point by operatives from the town police station.
“The suspects on board said van were not observing the protocol for enhanced community quarantine and none of them possess any authority to travel (Unauthorized Persons Outside Residence),” Desamito reported.
They are now facing charges of violating Republic Act 11332 or Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, police said.

Capt. Ronnie Caagbay, town police chief, said Bartolome Magtalas, 39, resident of the said village, and Emil John Nario, 37, of Barangay Talabutab were caught red-handed transporting several boxes of liquor Monday.
Confiscated from the suspects were 34 boxes that contained 816 of 350ml bottles of hard drinks.
The boxes were loaded in an AUV, said Caagbay.
